My nephew made his first communion yesterday which was followed by one of the best family parties to date. The weather was perfect....actually we did have a little rain but the T family had a tailgating tent that they popped up in a flash and the little kids love standing underneath it. The party was all the better with the rain and the tent. The food was delicious and the eating arrangents were perfect. Toads were caught and inchworms were found. There was a stange trip to go pick up a table that Husband was involved it. A chainsaw was borrowed. A toad fell into a small opening in a Tonka truck.....many attempts to save the toad were made including smashing the truck to pieces with a hammer. I was the only adult present for this....I made sure that the oldest grandchild did the smashing and all the little kids were a safe distance from where the smashing was happening.....until Uncle C put a stop to the smashing. Boo. I am sure that Husband took part in similar events at family parties when he was a little boy. A dog book was returned. A Christmas check was retrieved. A movie was watched. My photo was taken by nephew J. Plus I recieved about 42 kisses from niece J.
My favorite quote of the day:
T (2nd grade) : "Be careful with the toad. I think it needs to go back in his habitat."
