Giant Squid

We just finished a great "big" art project based on the book I'm the "Biggest" Thing in the Ocean.
On day one we painted and painted and painted large pieces of paper. The kids wanted to make giant squid and baby squid, so I saved the paper plates we were using as our palettes to use as the baby squid.   On the eve of day one, once the paint was dry I cut the paper and the plates into the shape of giant squids and baby squid.   On day two we glued the front and back of the squids together and stuffed them with tissue paper so they would be three dimensional and them added strips of bubble wrap and paper as the legs.  A cut apart styrofoam egg carton made the eyes.  We hung our giant squid in the family room and the baby squid in the kids rooms.

  1. Ok. I'm reading your blog. It's 12:30 am and I think we might be good friends. 1. your post from Rachael made me cry. As a mother of a 14 month child with a rare genetic disorder... *sigh* I pray. And... for my 2 1/2 year old twins - I love to be messy (at Christmas they used sharpies to address their hand made presents ;) and finally - we love smores at our house. LOVE it HERE.
