Tissue paper in a rainbow of colors cut into little squares plus 9 by 18 white paper plus paint brushes and glue equals pretty calm rainbow craft and tissue paper all of our house all weekend long. Totally worth it.
I drew the rainbow arches on the paper and wrote the color words with the appropriate color marker so the kids could be independent with the project. I would recommend using a smaller piece of construction paper because this project did take a long time. We came back to it at different points all weekend which was nice but messy. G stuck with the project for about 20 minutes on Satureday and returned to it on Sunday for another 20 minutes. A spent a lot more time with her rainbow and she still didn't complete all her arches. The final rainbows look beautiful.
Below is G's final product.
