Two of my favorite passages from the text:
"I heard once that the average person barely knows ten stories from childhood and those are based more on photographys and retellings than memory. So even with all the videos we take, the wo boxes of snapshots under my desk and the 1276 photos in folders on the computer, you'll be lucky to end up with a dozen stories. You won't remember how it started with us, the things that you don't even know about yourself. We won't come back here."
Lovely.....right?
And then this one:
"That means that in addition to possibly wrecking you. I have the chance to give you what was given to me: a decent childhood, more good memories than bad, some values, a sense of tribe, a run at happiness."
Perfect.
Husband laughed at me as I underlined almost the whole book.
Go now and read this book.
On a seperate note.....a quick story about A....yesterday we (A & I) drove by a small cemetary. She shouted : "Mommy, look at all those pretty things."
I love looking at life with three year old eyes....the cemetary sculptures (AKA headstones) look pretty amazing.
And a G story......my mom and dad are taking about buying a new car. I told the kids about their shopping list and G shouted , "Oh, mommy......maybe they'll buy a garbage truck! Yipee."

I would like to see Mrs. G driving a garbage truck down Oliver :)
