The picture summer prompt for today was titled : Treasure Hunter. Lots of pictures of summerish treasures.....shells, rocks and the such have been posted. I am not a collector. I have not a single shell nor rock to my name. So I opted to take a picture of a different kind of collection. As the oldest grandchild I managed to inherit the collection of letters that my grandfather sent to my grandmother when he was serving in the war. The letters are postmarked 1945. I remember my grandfather referring to my grandmother as his girlfriend at their 50th wedding anniversary. Their young love was even sweeter. To make this collection even more special they were written to my grandmother when she was pregnant with her first child, my mom. I am so grateful that my grandmother kept these letters. They are in great shape. She opened each one neatly with a letter opener and made sure the letter was placed back in the proper envelope. A very complete collection. I am very lucky to be the oldest grandchild and to have these letters.

Look closely at the zip code : 19. Yup....just two numbers. Plus didn't my grandfather have such nice handwriting.
This is incredible. Such a beautiful treasure to have :)
