This past October a friend of ours passed along a book to us : It's Only A Mountain. The stroy of Dick and Rick Hoyt, Men of Iron. A remarkable stroy : Rick is a non-verbal quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. Rick and his father, Dick, compete together in a variey of athletic events and I'm not talking about the Thanksgiving 5K....I'm talking about the Boston Marathon and Ironman. Yup, Dick and Rick Hoyt are Ironmen! Dick swims 2.4 miles while pulling his son on a raft, bikes 112 miles while Rick sits in a special seat in front of the bike and then runs 26.6 miles while pushing his son in a wheel chair. How cool is that?
"Dad, when I'm running it feels like I'm not even handicaped." Rick Hoyt
I cried my way through this book. Every time I see a clip about these men or read something about their adventures I can't keep my eyes dry. Check out this clip I stumbled upon on YouTube today. See if your eyes stay dry?
Want to know what's even cooler? Our friend had the book inscribed to us:
To: J & A,
I hope this book helps you in your own journey. To reach the mountain with G.
(Signed)
Dick and Rick Hoyt
Cool right?

Now I am sobbing! I love Team Hoyt. They are truly amazing. We can accomplish so much if we stop with the "I cants" and start with the "I cans". xoxo
