We have learned a lot over that last few days. We made a trip to Trader Joe's and were given a tour by one of their helpful and mostly knowledgeable clerk. Plus they gave us a list of all the gluten free (GF) foods that they carry. We stacked up on lots of (hopefully) yummy GF foods: a brownie mix, some frozen pancakes, ginger cookies (both tots loved these). Then we hit Meijer for our fruits and veggies and GF basics. They had a selection of gluten free products that were similar to Trader Joe's and significantly more expensive. They did have all of the GF flours that Trader Joe's did not carry. We also found a great site: zeer.com. For a fee, this site allows you to check a specific product and see if it is gluten free. They have 50,000 items in their database. So our trip to the grocery store took significantly longer than it usually does because prior to buying an item we would check its status on this web site. We now eat Stonyfield organic low-fat vanilla organic yogurt as it is one of the only GF yogurts in our local grocer. Most of our regular items are not on the list and we are buying new brands that are officially GF. Husband A made a GF naan bread, an Indian bread similar to a Pita bread. It is pretty good and sister A really likes it.
